Following the Attorney General Guideline "Promoting Diversity in Law Enforcement Recruiting and Hiring," released in December 2021, the Borough of Deal Police Department is dedicated to hiring personnel who represent the communities we serve, as outlined in N.J.S.A.52:17B-4.10. Monmouth County's 2019 Census Data indicates that the population is 75% White, 7% Black, 11% Hispanic, and 5% Asian.
As of December 31, 2023, the Deal Police Department employed 24 sworn officers, of which 79% were White, 4.5% were Black, 4.5% were Hispanic, and 4.5% were two or more races. We are committed to our effort to attract female and underrepresented minority candidates; the department participates in events such as job fairs held by the Monmouth County Chiefs of Police. Our seasonal staff demographics represent diversity in a manner consistent with our recruiting efforts. The Deal Police Department will continue to endeavor to hire and promote employees in a manner that reflects the communities we serve.
